Have you ever considered beekeeping or find bees fascinating? Come to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden to lean about these important pollinators. Master beekeeper Joseph Zgurzynski will provide an introduction to bees, their biology and what it takes to be a beekeeper. Each participant will also make their own rolled beeswax candles to take home.

Joseph Zgurzynski is a second generation beekeeper with a lifelong interest in beekeeping and entomology.  His beehives are managed as part of Country Barn Farm which is located a few miles north of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania city limits in O’Hara Township. Please visit for more information about the family farm.  Joe is certified as a Master Beekeeper through the Eastern Apicultural Society of North America and a member of Burgh Bees, Beaver Valley Area Beekeepers Association and the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association.

Credit card payment only

In case of severe weather, the workshop will be canceled and registrants refunded. For information on the status of the program, please call 412-444-4464.
