Grow your gardening skills at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. We are delighted to partner with the Community College of Allegheny County in offering gardening classes for beginner to experienced gardeners. The courses below are interactive with time for questions and answers.

Learn how you can create beauty around your home; grow delicious, healthful produce, and save money and natural resources all at the same time by landscaping with edible plants. The course provides information for planning, executing, and maintaining the ornamental edible landscape.
Eco-Smart Gardens of Tomorrow Saturday 3/11/17
What is the future of tomorrow’s garden? Discover how the economy and environmental concerns are changing the future of our gardens. Explore ways to blend the old garden basics with the new concepts and techniques. Learn how to incorporate rain barrels, composting, make wiser plant choices, and much more.
ABC’s of Gardening Saturday 3/18/17
How does your garden grow? Are you tired of the way it looks? With the ABC’s of gardening, you will be able to rehabilitate your yard with a few simple steps. Students will learn: 1. Soil analysis: amendments/fertilizers. 2. Site analysis: what to keep and what not to keep. 3. Plant selection: choosing the proper plant for your yard. 4. Maintaining your new yard: water, pruning, protection.
Garden Ponds & Fountains Saturday 3/25/17
Whether it’s the splash of a fountain or the restful serenity of a lily pond, water creates a special environment. Through sound, motion and reflective stillness, water gives depth to your garden. In this workshop, we will learn about design, construction basics, plant choices, fish and pond ecology.
