Young Voices for the Planet Workshop
Wednesday, June 26
9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Join Young Voices for the Planet (YVFP) and Pittsburgh Botanic Garden to learn how to prepare the next generation of environmental stewards.
This one-day workshop will explore ways in which teachers and youth leaders can empower young people to take an essential role in catalyzing environmental change. Led by a professional facilitator, teachers will engage in discussions and break-out sessions to address a wide range of environmental education issues. YVFP founder and children’s book author and illustrator, Lynne Cherry, will also lead a formal presentation. Garden staff will lead the group on an outdoor guided walk, with a focus on pollinator conservation.
This workshop is open to formal and informal educators, including K-12 teachers, Scout Leaders, librarians, and other youth leaders who work regularly with groups of children and young adults. The workshop will include time exploring Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, so dress for the weather and bring walking shoes. Lunch will be provided. Please help us minimize waste by bringing your own mug, plate, and silverware.
Act 48 hours will be available at a cost of $5 person, payable at the door. Young Voices for the Planet is funded by The Heinz Endowments and Garden Club of Allegheny County.
