Summer Day Camps
Nature Adventure Camps at the Garden are specially designed to strengthen children’s connection with plants and the natural world. Each program includes hands-on activities and opportunities for individual exploration and problem solving. Whether diving into the aquatic world of the Lotus Pond or digging deeper into the habitats of local wildlife, each program offers unique lessons about living and learning in nature.
Each day camp is either 1-day or 3-days and is designed for young kids (ages 4-6) or older children (ages 7-11). Please read full description for each program to determine if it is suitable for your child.
Nature Adventure Camps
Nature Explorer Camp
(Ages 7 – 11 years)
Did you ever wonder what it would be like to be an explorer? This is your chance! Join an outdoor educator to explore different habitats at the Garden, and learn about the plants and animals that call that habitat home. Sharpen your nature journaling and science skills, use new tools and have fun. Each day, campers will be learning about an outdoor science career path.
Garden Design Camp
(Ages 7 – 11 years)
Gardens are amazing spaces, made for both beauty and function. Learn about the art of gardening, visit garden spaces and learn how you can design your own garden. Each day campers will engage in hands-on activities, as we explore gardens as spaces that nourish us, provide habitat for wildlife, and create beauty and art. Get ready to get your hands dirty and engage all your senses!
Wild About Birds!
(Ages 7 – 11 years)
What makes a bird a bird? Learn about the common birds of Pennsylvania and use binoculars to look for them throughout the Garden. Explore nest boxes, and build a bird feeder to attract local birds. Learn about careers that relate to birds and conservation.
Nature Art Camp
(Ages 7 – 11 years)
Is there art in nature? Explore the meaning of art as you visit our unique Carbon Cycle Earth Art exhibit. Campers will draw inspiration from nature to create their own pieces of nature art!
Pioneer Life Camp
(Ages 7 – 11 years)
What was life like in pioneer times? Come explore a restored log home, chicken coop and garden. Learn about life in the 1780s by engaging in hands-on activities such as gardening, washing clothes and grinding grain the old fashioned way. Put down those electronics for some old fashioned games.
Nature Play Camp
(Ages 4 – 6 years)
Engage the senses in nature through exploration and play! Making mud pies, looking for water bugs, and exploring sounds in nature will be part of the fun. Come ready to explore outdoors!
Budding Nature Artists
(Ages 4 – 6 years)
There is so much art in nature, from colorful flowers to the flash of a rainbow. Campers will spend a day outdoors creating art inspired by nature. Mud, plants and paints will blend into unique pieces of art. Get ready to unleash your imagination!
Critter Camp
(Ages 4 – 6 years)
Calling all nature kids! There are so many animals that call the Garden home! Come explore the Garden with us, as we look for things that crawl, fly or try to hide! Enjoy hands-on learning, story time and lots of time to play!
