If only kids could go back in time to see what life was like…
Take a journey back in time at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden and discover your inner pioneer. Experience what life was like for European homesteaders through activities in and around the 1780’s restored Walker-Ewing-Glass Log House. Children and adults in that era couldn’t google anything or use their iPads; they had to live by their wits. Some of the many homesteading (and modern-day STEAM) skills highlighted in this camp include how to grow food crops, medicinal plants and self-care, raising livestock, recognizing and dealing with pests, how to build shelter and making your own fun.
