Event Details

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live your life in water?

Explore the abundant Lotus Pond at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden to see the hundreds of organisms that live their entire lives there. From frogs and tadpoles to turtles, fish, cattails, waterlilies and damselflies, we will examine each and learn how they are all interconnected. The Lotus Pond was once an acid mine drainage ditch that was dead to most organisms. Through award-winning land reclamation and water filtration, it is now a gem of the garden overflowing with life. Some of the pond studies we will conduct include water quality, biodiversity and overall pond health.
