About Poetic Kinetics

Patrick Shearn creates site-specific, experiential public art that invites viewers into unique, ephemeral experiences. His large-scale sculptures engage the senses and challenge expectations around choice, perception, illusion, and time. With roots in technology, science, and a deep reverence for nature, Shearn’s work balances playfulness with precision. Growing up in a family of artists, he developed an instinct to ask “what if…” and a belief that any creative vision is possible—a spirit his work continues to inspire in others.

Poetic Kinetics, founded by Shearn, is a collective of creative minds specializing in large-scale art installations, experiential design, and performance production. Based in Black Forest, Colorado, and Los Angeles, the studio emerged from the film industry and thrives on collaboration across disciplines. Each project brings together innovation, a sense of adventure, and a commitment to exceptional production value.

Although we've lived in Pittsburgh for over 30 years this was the first time we went to the botanic garden. Lovely place, hope to go back when there are more things in bloom. The special exhibit was fun.

Nice place for a curated walk in the woods. Mostly focused on trees and natural beauty vs. flowers and other blooming plants. Many child-friendly activities.

Great way to spend an afternoon. Every plant imaginable intertwined with others. So many separate rooms and outside exhibits.
