Pittsburgh Botanic Garden Programs for Children provide engaging experiences so children and an accompanying adult can explore the science and wonder of the natural world. An adult must stay with the child for the program.

Seedlings
Pittsburgh Botanic Garden Seedlings Program is appropriate for children ages 3 to 6, accompanied by an adult. Together, child and adult, will explore a different theme each month, participate in a hands-on activity and read a story. Outdoors, so please dress for the weather!
Celebrate winter in the Garden
Check back for more information on the upcoming Make It A Date weekend at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend (February 12 – 14) with the someone special, your family or gal pals. The Garden offers 60 acres to wonder and wander and spend time in nature.
Activities while at the Garden
There are a variety of activities for children while visiting Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.
Family Backpack – Check out a backpack with seasonal activities to help explore the Garden at your own pace. Note: This program is on hold due to COVID.
Discovery Cart – Stop by the discovery cart and explore interesting facts on plants and nature. You will find this cart near the Weisbrod Learning Pavilion from April through October.
Tree Times – Take an activity sheet and visit the Tree Times stops along the main path. Learn about native trees and the history of the country.
Nature Passport – Take a Nature Passport with activities to enhance your visit.
Letterboxing and Geocaching – Follow clues to find letterboxes hidden in the Garden (no equipment needed). Or use a hand-held GPS enabled device along with a list of clues to find hidden geocaches. Note: This program is on hold due to COVID.
